40th Street Artist-in-Residence awards West Philadelphia artists six months of free studio time in a pair of building near the corner of 40th and Chestnut streets. In exchange, the program asks each artist to share his or her talents with the local community. This may include offering workshops or classes, creating public art, or exhibiting work in the area. Artists are considered by nomination only. The program also maintains AIRSPACE for the exhibition of resident work, work created by participants in artist outreach projects, and for performances of interest to the community.
